So... I recently photographed NIN at the Santa Barbara Bowl. The "open photo policy" afforded me the time to pay more attention to whom I was photographing and let faces sink in a little more. As I was shooting, I remember thinking that the bass player looked awfully familiar...
I was at the show that night with someone who is a big NIN fan, he mentioned to me that the bass player was fairly new with the band and that he thought the guy was somehow tied in with Beck. Then it hit me, he was the honky with the big afro who played bass with Beck when I photographed him at the venue nearly ten years earlier...

Justin Meldal-Johnsen. You've come a long way baby.
